1. A device for transmitting data to and receiving data from a remote system, comprising:

  • a selective call transceiver for receiving a selective call signal comprising an information identifier that identifies information, wherein the information is (a) stored in the remote system, (b) not included in the selective call signal regardless of the amount of the information, and (c) not stored in the device at the time the selective call signal is received; and

    a processor for establishing a two-way communication session with the remote system, wherein, during the two-way communication session, the processor uses the transceiver to (a) communicate to the remote system the information identifier, (b) communicate to the remote system a request to perform an action on the information, and (c) receive an acknowledgement from the remote system.
