1. A device for making knotted string accessories from a plurality of individual strings comprising:

a base having a substantially planar surface with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis;

a securing member connected to the substantially planar surface proximate to the first end and configured to secure a first end of the plurality of individual strings; and

an elongated holder connected to the substantially planar surface proximate the second end and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the elongated holder comprising a plurality of raised portions positioned along the elongated holder and extending outward from the substantially planar surface in close proximity to one another, wherein adjacent raised portions are configured to retain individual strings.

Abstract

Disclosed herein are embodiments of devices and kits for making knotted string accessories. One embodiment of a device comprises a base having a substantially planar surface with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis. A securing member is connected to the substantially planar surface proximate to the first end and is configured to secure a first end of the plurality of individual strings. An elongated holder is connected to the substantially planar surface proximate the second end and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and comprises a plurality of raised portions positioned along the elongated holder and extending outward from the substantially planar surface in close proximity to one another, wherein adjacent raised portions are configured to retain individual strings. An embodiment of a kit comprises the device and a plurality of string for use with the device.

1. A device for making knotted string accessories from a plurality of individual strings comprising:
- a base having a substantially planar surface with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis;
  
  a securing member connected to the substantially planar surface proximate to the first end and configured to secure a first end of the plurality of individual strings; and
  
  an elongated holder connected to the substantially planar surface proximate the second end and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the elongated holder comprising a plurality of raised portions positioned along the elongated holder and extending outward from the substantially planar surface in close proximity to one another, wherein adjacent raised portions are configured to retain individual strings.

- - 2. The device of claim 1 further comprising:
    - a rail member attached to the substantially planar surface proximate the first end and parallel to the longitudinal axis, wherein the securing member is movably attached to the rail member and positionable at a plurality of discrete locations defined along the rail member.
  - 3. The device of claim 2, wherein the securing member is movably attached to the rail member with a guide member slidably movable along the rail member, the securing member comprising a clip and a spring configured to bias the clip to secure the first end of the plurality of individual strings.
  - 4. The device of claim 3, wherein the rail member comprises a plurality of spaced-apart indentations along a top surface and the guide member comprises a detent positioned for engagement with at least one of the plurality of indentations to position the securing member at the plurality of discrete locations.
  - 5. The device of claim 1 further comprising a storage compartment having at least one inner cavity and releasably engaging the base.
  - 6. The device of claim 5, wherein the base is pivotally attached to at least one side of the storage compartment and is movable between an open position and a closed position.
  - 7. The device of claim 5, wherein the base is slidably attached to the storage compartment and is moveable between an open position and a closed position.
  - 8. The device of claim 5 further comprising a latching mechanism configured to secure the base to the storage compartment in a closed position.
  - 9. The device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of raised portions includes a retainer mechanism between adjacent raised portions configured to retain the individual string.
  - 10. The device of claim 1, wherein the substantially planar surface of the base comprises indicia proximate the plurality of raised portions to sequence the raised portions.

11. A kit for making knotted string accessories comprising:
- a device for making knotted string accessories comprising;
  
  a base having a substantially planar surface with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis;
  
  a securing member connected to the substantially planar surface proximate to the first end; and
  
  an elongated holder connected to the substantially planar surface proximate the second end and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the elongated holder comprising a plurality of raised portions positioned along the elongated holder and extending outward from the substantially planar surface in close proximity to one another;
  
  and a plurality of strings having a first end for temporary engagement with the securing member, the strings moveable between adjacent raised portions of the elongated holder.

- - 12. The kit of claim 11, wherein the plurality of strings comprises at least one of:
    - more than one color, more than one texture, and more than one material.
  - 13. The kit of claim 11, wherein the device further comprises:
    - a rail member attached to the base proximate the first end and parallel to the longitudinal axis, wherein the securing member is movably attached to the rail member and positionable at a plurality of discrete locations defined along the rail member.
  - 14. The kit of claim 13, wherein the securing member is movably attached to the rail member with a guide member slidably movable along the rail member, the securing member comprising a clip and a spring configured to bias the clip to secure the first end of the plurality of individual strings.
  - 15. The kit of claim 14, wherein the rail member comprises a plurality of spaced-apart indentations along a top surface and the guide member comprises a detent positioned for engagement with at least one of the plurality of indentations to position the securing member at the plurality of discrete locations.
  - 16. The kit of claim 11, wherein the device further comprises:
    - a storage compartment having at least one inner cavity and releasably engaging the base, wherein the plurality of strings are removably stored in the storage compartment.
  - 17. The kit of claim 16, wherein the base is one of slidably attached to the storage compartment and pivotally attached to at least one side of the storage compartment, the base moveable between an open position and a closed position.
  - 18. The kit of claim 16, wherein the device further comprises:
    - a latching mechanism configured to secure the base to the storage compartment in the closed position.
  - 19. The kit of claim 11, wherein the plurality of raised portions include a retainer mechanism between adjacent raised portions.
  - 20. The kit of claim 11, wherein the base comprises indicia proximate the plurality of raised portions to sequence the raised portions.
