Empire IP Plaintiff Files New Round of Complaints in Wireless Communications Campaign

March 1, 2024

Brother (2:24-cv-00134), C.R. England (5:24-cv-00376), Enterprise (6:24-cv-00116), and Nikon (1:24-cv-01258) are the latest defendants to be added to the sole litigation campaign of Fleet Connect Solutions LLC (FCS), a plaintiff associated with Texas monetization firm Empire IP LLC. FCS launched this campaign in December 2020 and has since asserted overlapping sets of 29 wireless communications patents, each received from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV). The defendants are accused of infringement through the provision of a wide array of devices, with certain wireless communications standards (i.e., Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11ac/b/n, and LTE) at issue; for Brother, of certain label printers, printers, and scanners; for C.R. England, of certain ORBCOMM-branded tracking devices (e.g., electronic logging devices, fleet management solutions, and trailer tracking devices); for Enterprise, of fleet management and tracking solutions that incorporate Geotab-branded telematics products; and for Nikon, of certain D- and Z- series cameras.
